Prerequisites

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a Commercial Pilot Certificate with Airplane Single Engine Land Privileges
  • Have at least a third-class FAA medical certificate

Getting Started

  • Schedule a Discovery Flight!
  • Contact Sweet Aviation to schedule a tour & meet with our training manager
  • Discuss training plan & ground school options
  • Begin ground/flight training

Flight Training Requirements (Class Add-On)

  •  Proficiency in all areas of operation required by 14CFR Part 61 and the Commercial Pilot ACS for an Airplane Multi-Engine Land Class Add-On.
  • The addition of multi-engine privileges on an instrument rating will require an engine out instrument approach during the checkride.
  • Earn the required endorsements from an authorized instructor.
  • Take and pass a checkride with a pilot examiner to act as PIC of a multi engine aircraft.

Not Required to Earn a Multi-Engine Rating (Class Add-On)

  • No requirement for a knowledge test (when the multi engine rating is conducted as an add-on).
  • No minimum flight time requirement, however you can expect to need approximately 10 hours (or to proficiency) in the multi engine airplane before receiving endorsements from an instructor.

  • Take and pass a checkride with a pilot examiner to be authorized to instruct in multi engine aircraft.
