What’s Happening at Sweet Aviation

The aviation community is a group of like-minded, fun, and passionate individuals, and we try to find and create as many opportunities as possible to bring everyone together. So we’d love to see you at one of our upcoming events or classes! We’ll be updating this list monthly, so be sure to check back often. In fact, if there’s an aviation event or meeting you’d like to schedule at Sweet Aviation, get in touch with us. We’d be happy to host your event!

Events

  • Lunch on the Fly

    10/12/2018

Join the Sweet Aviation staff and fellow aviators for the final Lunch on the Fly of 2018, from 11am-1pm at Smith Field. This is a free event and we’ll happily be doing the grilling, but if you’re driving in you’re encouraged to bring a side dish or dessert to share!

  • AOPA Safety Seminar: Weather Accidents

    10/24/2018

Join us from 6-9pm for a free BBQ cookout and AOPA Safety Institute seminar!

Weather is often blamed as the cause of accidents when, in reality, it’s poor decision making that’s the culprit. The go/no-go decision-making process starts long before entering the cockpit. But the right choice at a crucial moment before or during a flight can be difficult to make.

In this new seminar from the AOPA Air Safety Institute, you’ll learn:
    • Why getting the big weather picture is important
    • How to improve your go/no-go decision-making process
    • Tips to “weatherize” your mindset and avoid traps like flying VFR into IMC
    • Why technology can be both a great tool and your worst enemy in weather flying

Starting at the crash scene and working backward, you’ll step into the shoes of an accident investigator and examine accidents in which weather played a role. Our expert presenters will guide the discussion about what went wrong, why, and how to avoid making the same mistakes.

  • Rusty Pilots

    10/27/2018

Join us Saturday, October 27, 9AM–12PM for the
AOPA Rusty Pilots Seminar, hosted by Sweet Aviation.

Life may have gotten in the way, but the dream of flight can be yours again. Returning to the skies is not as difficult as most rusty pilots think. We’re inviting you back in the cockpit and will help you get there. Come and participate in this Rusty Pilots program with fellow lapsed pilots. We will help you understand what’s changed in aviation since you last took the controls and brush up on your aviation knowledge.

We’ve partnered with the AOPA to create the best environment for getting you back in the air and a part of the general aviation community. It is easier than most people think — there’s no FAA check ride or test, and you might not even need a medical exam. Plus, by attending, you’ll be getting two to three hours of ground instruction towards your flight review!

You can click here for more information about the event or click here to learn about our guest speaker.

Pre-registration is encouraged since seats fill up fast!
