Private Pilot Ground School


The private pilot ground school presents the topics necessary to pass the private/sport pilot knowledge test. The knowledge test consists of 60 multiple-choice questions that are designed to validate a candidate's aeronautical knowledge.
Topics Covered
  1. Airplanes, aerodynamics, stability and control
  2. Aircraft systems, engine operation and flight systems
  3. E6B usage, airplane performance and weight and balance
  4. Airspace and navigation charts
  5. Airworthiness requirements and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)
  6. Flight physiology, aeronautical decision making
  7. Airport operations, traffic patterns
  8. Aviation weather and weather services
  9. Visual navigation, VFR flight planning, pilotage and dead reckoning
  10. Radio navigation (VOR, NDB, GPS, RNAV, DME)

Instrument Pilot Ground School


The instrument pilot ground school presents the topics necessary to pass the instrument pilot knowledge test. The knowledge test consists of 60 multiple-choice questions that are designed to validate a candidate's instrument flight related aeronautical knowledge.

  2. Aeronautical decision making and physiological factors
  3. Electronic navigation and holding patterns
  4. How the IFR system works and IFR Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)
  5. IFR aviation weather theory and IFR weather charts
  6. Instrument approach charts
  7. Instrument approach procedures and GPS approach charts
  8. Instrument departure procedures and IFR enroute charts
  9. IFR flight planning: Scenario #1
  10. IFR flight planning: Scenario #2
  11. Review and completion of course
